Construction Manager – High-End Fit-Out (Hospitality)

Fixed term 8-months contract

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to work on a high-end fit out project located in central Birmingham. This scheme is due to commence in March 2023. This is a permanent role for 8 months or until completion of the project in Autumn 2023.

This role will encompass leading of the project delivery on site, ensuring smooth construction process including, management of construction programme, minimising/eliminating potential programme delays and making sure all work is completed on time, within the parameters of the design and to a very high quality, both in terms of the finished project and the service that our clients receive.

The Construction Manager will manage all site labour and trade contractors, liaise with associated consultants and be able to chair regular site progress meetings. This manager will work alongside the Site Manager who will manage all the site activities and Health & Safety, overseeing trades packages with the support of this sought-after Construction Manager.

This is a contract role that will run for the length of the project with the potential for more work once this project completes.

The ideal candidate for the role will be a well-established Construction Manager who has an extensive experience of managing high-end fit out and refurbishment projects, with a proven track record across schemes of a similar nature. 

The perfect candidate will have a Degree level qualifications and have progressed from a trade background within the refurbishment market and have specific experience of managing the fit out of high end projects, hotels and/or restaurants, understand the building process, with the ability to be hands on when required.

We are looking for a good communicator, able to manage and interact with contractors in a positive engaging manner with minimum of 5 years' experience as a lead Construction Manager in construction interior fit outs and refurbishment sector with ability to understand construction drawings, do the setting out and ensure that commercial opportunities are maximised to achieve savings while maintaining the highest quality of the final product.

Essential Requirements:

-      SMSTS, First Aid at Work

-      Client Facing

-      Fluent English

-      Strong IT skills, including but not limited to Word and Excel at an intermediate level. Ability to use Outlook for emails, calendar meetings, zoom conference calls, printers and scanners in daily use etc.

-      Must be based within a commutable distance to central Birmingham (under 1 hour of travel)

Desirable Requirements:

-          Degree or equivalent

-          A trades background – carpentry ideally

-          Knowledge of any additional European language
